Rides and Events

Welcome to the CBC shop rides. We have road rides leaving our bike shop every Tuesday and Thursday evenings (weather permitting). The Tuesday night ride is divided into (2) groups. The Thursday night ride is (1) main group.
The Tue (A) group is an extremely fast paced 40+ mile loop. The average speeds rage from 22-24 mph. There is approximately 2,200’ feet of elevation gain through out the ride. The riders who choose to participate in this ride will be expected to follow all traffic laws, be well familiar with the course itself, and have a good grasp of general group ride etiquette.
The Tue (B) group is a more laid back pace. This is an excellent ride for people who consider themselves a recreational rider compared to a racer. This also a good ride for people who wish to improve to the (A) level ride. The average speed for this ride is 18-20 mph depending on the group dynamic.
The Thursday night ride is made up of a combination of the (A&B) riders from Tuesday night. This is a great opportunity for less experienced riders to push their limits a bit. A lot of the (A) riders are getting a last ride in before the weekend race. Their goal is to keep an even paced ride at a good tempo. This helps the less experienced rider to become familiar with "Road Etiquette". The average speed for this ride is 19-22 depending on group dynamic.
All riders should be familiar with the course because once we are 10 miles into the rides a lot is going on and people start to get motivated. It will be your responsibility to know the area well enough to get home on your own. One should bring enough supplies for themselves and their bike to make it through a 38+ mile ride. Fortunately, Knoxville is very lineal in layout. We have posted some maps of previous rides so that you may better understand the route and your options should you not finish with the group.

Riding in groups on unfamiliar terrain can be inherently dangerous. Road riding in Knoxville is dangerous. All shop rides are a "Ride at your own Risk" Venue.
